Procedure
The „Technical Component Journals“ allow the following actions to edit the „History” of a Technical Component:
Start | Start of History |
Connect | Connecting the Technical Component with a Mounting Position or a Technical Component or a vehicle. „Connect“ automatically starts the History. |
Disconnect | Disconnecting the Technical Component from a Mounting Position or a Technical Component or a vehicle. |
Reconnect | Disconnecting and reconnecting in one booking. |
In order to enable the editing of the “Technical Component Journal” additionally in relation e.g. to the Editor or Trade, several “Technical Component Journal Batches” can be set up within a “Technical Component Journal Template”.
By searching for „Technical Component Journal Templates“ these Templates can be opened and by clicking on „new” additional Technical Component Journal Templates can be created.
If several templates exist, a list view appears when searching for "Technical Component Journals", from which the Template and, if necessary, the desired “Batch Name” must be selected, in which the entry is to be recorded. After selection, an empty Journal line is displayed.

- The acquisition of the lines takes place from left to right.
- „Entry Type“ needs to be changed to “Connect”.

(See „No. Series“ in Figure 1: List view Technical Component Journal Templates)
- By clicking „Post“ the entered connection will be booked and the content of the line is deleted.

Import of Technical Components Function
The Technical Component Journal provides an Import Function, that is used generally after Setup of the Equipment Structure and before active work with MAIN-TOOL begins, in order to
- connect all Technical Components according to the Equipment Structure and thus
- automatically start the “curriculum vitae” recording of all Technical Components.
Following Figures show the settings for connecting all Technical Components that are not yet connected, which automatically starts the “curriculum vitae” recording.
To select the Technical Components that are not yet connected, they can be filtered out as follows:
- „Default Entry Type“ needs to be changed to “Connect”.
Add a Filter at “Filter: Technical Component”
- Select „Assignment“ from the available Options
- In the Drill-Down-Menu, “Installation” must be selected
By confirming with „OK“ the Technical Component Journal Lines will be filled accordingly:
- By clicking on „Post“ the shown connections will be booked and the content of the lines is deleted.
Concluding Notes to this manual
- The „Import of Technical Components“ function explained is excellently suited for the mass start of technical components. The filter options allow a targeted selection of the desired objects.
- If error messages regarding posting date are displayed, it may be because the posting date for the posting to be made is outside the currently valid accounting periods.
- In a posting, a Technical Component cannot be disconnected in one line and reconnected in another line. If this is to be mapped, either a posting with Entry Type “Reconnect“ must be used or 2 different postings are required, one with Entry Type “Disconnect” and one with Entry Type “Connect”.
- If a work order is to be referenced when booking, the corresponding column can be displayed, and the work order selected.
- If the Technical Component is linked to an Item with serial no. (see MAIN-TOOL Tab of the Item card), no item posting is generated, i.e. no stock change occurs. If this is to be mapped, the desired stock change must be posted separately.
- The „Technical Component Ledger Entries“ resulting from the explained Postings can be viewed both at the Technical Component and the Mounting Position, see „Technical Component Ledger Entry “ in the “Navigate” Menu of both card page views.
