The Performance Characteristics Acquisition is used for the central storage of the data defined in the object monitoring lines, i.e. the actual values of the linked Counter Readings, Measurements, Threshold Values or Attrition Values.
Performance Characteristics can be acquired in 2 ways:
- Entry via a work order and a corresponding checklist entry
- Entry via the Performance Characteristics Journal
The latter approach is mostly used and is therefore explained below:
When searching for „Performance Characteristics Journals“ a List of Journal Templates appears, if several Templates exist. The Template and, if necessary, the desired “Batch Name” must be selected, in which the entry is to be recorded. As a rule, the “STANDARD” Journal of same name is used.
After selection, an “empty” Journal line is displayed.
Performance Characteristics Journal Mandatory Fields
The required entries in the lines of the Performance Characteristics Journal are recorded from left to right. The following table explains the most important fields (fields in italics are not mandatory fields):
Field Name | Description / Information |
Posting Date | will be filled automatically and can be changed manually |
Document Date | will be filled automatically and can be changed manually |
Posting Type | The choices are:
|
Document No. | Can be filled manually, if no „No.-Series“ has been selected for the Performance Characteristics Journal |
Type | The choices are:
|
No. | Selection of Technical Object Code |
Description | will be filled automatically and can be changed manually |
Line No. (Object Monitoring Line) | Only at recording of an absolute value: Selection of desired Object Monitoring Template Line No. |
Actual Value | The Value to be recorded must be entered |
Total Value | will be filled automatically |
Object Monitoring Template | Only at recording of a difference value: selection of the desired object monitoring template |
When counter readings are acquired, a distinction must be made as to whether the counter reading is an absolute value or a differential value (to a previous reading, such as a reset button).
Note - Counter:
- When counter readings are acquired, a distinction must be made as to whether the counter reading is an absolute value or a differential value (to a previous reading, such as a reset button).
Note - Limits:
- In case of a measured value Acquisition for Limit Value Monitoring, the “Monitoring Template Code” Column must not be filled in (Column eventually hidden).
- Instead, the line number of the desired object monitoring line must be selected in the „Line No. Object Monitoring Line“ field.
- Then the measured value must be entered in the „Actual Value“ field. When this field is left the displayed „Total Value“ is updated.
„Import Object Monitoring Lines“ Function
The “Performance Characteristics Journal” has a “Import Object Monitoring Lines” function for simultaneously acquisition of a large number of different data.
This function can be used, for example, if counter readings are to be transferred regularly after an inspection walkway. For this purpose, the technical objects, that are to be updated with the values to record, can be listed in a filtered table first. Finally, the entered performance characteristics can be posted in one step.
This function is directly available at the “Performance Characteristics Journal”.
In the „Options“ Tab, the posting types „Post Value“ and „Reverse Value“ are available for selection.
In the other tabs, comprehensive filtering options are available to reduce the number of displayed results to the desired technical objects in the best possible way.
All table fields of the respective technical objects are available as filter criteria, which can be combined with any number of "AND Operations".
If no filters are selected, all technical objects are displayed, for which one or more Object Monitoring Template Definition/s exist.
MAIN-TOOL does not provide any checkboxes for these filter options, with which e.g. only technical components or the data type of the object monitoring line, e.g. only Counter Readings could be filtered. Thus a target-oriented criterion must be defined for each register, as shown in the following example.
The figures of the example show a filtering to determine the main components of the component group "Pump" without vehicles and without Component Addresses. The following conditions are assumed:
- There are no Vehicles and Component Addresses belonging to the component group "Pump".
- The searched main component of the component group "Pump" is located in level 1 of the technical components in the Equipment Structure.
The Result is displayed as follows:
It is recommended to check, if the Read-In Lines correspond to the desired result.
Posting Type - Limit:
- Although the “Posting Type” options "Change value" and "Reverse value" are displayed and can theoretically be selected, an attempt to post with these is acknowledged with an error message and canceled.
- In the case of limit value monitoring, only the "Post value" option is available.
Example of a completed Performance Characteristics Journal line for recording of a measure value for limit value monitoring:
Posting Type - Consumption:
Following example demonstrates the function of the 3 posting types:
An Oil Tank has a current level of 1000 Liter.
- Now 225 liters have been consumed and the level indicator is at 775 liters:
➝ „Post value“ with „Actual Value“ = 775 Liter.
- A correction is to be made, because just 250 Liter were consumed, the level indicator is at 750:
➝ „Reverse value“ with „Actual Value“ = 775 Liter,
➝ “Post value“ with „Actual Value“ = 750 Liter.
- Then the tank is refilled with 200 Liter, the level indicator is at 950 Liter.
➝ „Change value“ with „New Value“ = 950 Liter.
- A correction is to be made, because just 20 Liter were refilled, the level indicator is at 770 Liter:
➝ „Reverse value“ with „Actual Value“ = 950 Liter,
➝ „Change value“ with „New Value“ = 770 Liter
„Post Value“ Posting
Example of a filled line to post a new ACTUAL-Value „775“:
- In the „Line No. Object Monitoring Line“ field, the line number of the object monitoring line in question must be selected.
- In the „Actual Value“ field, the measured attrition or consumption value must be entered.
„Change Value“ Posting
This posting type can be used, if the “Attrition/Consumption” is to be declared as a “negative consumption”, e.g. the oil tank is hereby refilled to 1000 liters (Entry of the new actual level).
Example of a filled performance characteristics journal line to change a value:
- In the „Line No. Object Monitoring Line“ field, the line number of the object monitoring line in question must be selected.
- If a value has been stored in the "Initial value" field in the "Attrition/´Consumption" info tab in the Card Page of the object monitoring line, this value is now proposed as "New value".
- Alternatively, the change of the measured Attrition/Consumption value can be entered manually in the "New value" field.
„Reverse Value“ Posting
This Posting type can be used, to correct incorrect posted values. By reversing (with the wrong value), the "new" current value is corrected to the value before the incorrect posting.
Example of a filled performance characteristics journal line to reverse a value (in this case, a posting with the value “1000” is reversed):
- In the „Line No. Object Monitoring Line“ field, the line number of the object monitoring line in question must be selected.
- By selecting the posting type "Reverse value", the last posted value will be proposed in the field "Actual value" (because this is to be reversed).
- If several entries have to be corrected because, for example, a typing error occurred 3 entries ago, this process must be repeated a corresponding number of times until the last correct entry is made. The posting type "Reverse value" automatically proposes the last posted value, which supports the "logical" reversal.
- If the incorrect entry is further back in time, it is recommended to adjust the posting date and document date accordingly (not suggested automatically).
Absolute Value Acquisition
Example of a completed Performance Characteristics Journal line for recording of an absolute value:
Note:
- In case of a Counter Reading Absolute Value Acquisition, the “Monitoring Template Code” Column must not be filled in (Column eventually hidden).
- Instead, the line number of the desired object monitoring line must be selected in the „Line No. Object Monitoring Line“ field.
- Then the absolute value must be entered in the „Actual Value“ field. When this field is left the displayed „Total Value“ is updated.
- If no inheritance is stored, as many lines must be entered as there are object monitoring lines to be considered at the technical object that are based on the counter reading, e.g. three lines, if there are two dependent activities, e.g. 1. Line: For Counter reading only, 2. Line: First Activity after 5,000 hours, 3. Line: Second Activity after 10,000 hours.
Differential Value Acquisition
Example of a completed Performance Characteristics Journal line for recording of an differential value:
Posting of Performance Characteristics
With the „Post“ Button, the Counter Reading must be posted, creating at least one or, in case of inheritance, several Performance Character Ledger Entries and the Performance Characteristics Journal line is deleted.
To check the performed posting the list of Ledger Entries can be opened by clicking on “More Options”, Navigate”, “Line” and then “Ledger Entries”. The current filter can be viewed by clicking on the filter icon in the upper right corner, then “Views: All” and “Show system filters” and modified, if needed.
By clicking “Entry No.”, the current view can be sorted in ascending or descending order.
Note:
- In case of a Counter Reading differential value acquisition, the „Line No. Object Monitoring Line“ field must not be filled in.
- Instead, the desired Monitoring Template Code must now be entered in the “Monitoring Template Code” field.
- Then the differential value must be entered in the field „Actual Value“.
- The performance data has no connection to materials management. A stock change to an existing item, such as the oil, has no effect on the performance data items.
