At the level of object monitoring lines, MAIN-TOOL enables the recording of default values for the extrapolation of when which Counter Reading will be reached.
These default values are taken into account when calculating Appointments. In order to determine the expected date, default values must be stored.
Opening the Default Value Extrapolation
At the Object Monitoring Lines of a Technical Component, a Vehicle or a Component Address, by clicking on “More Options”, “Navigate”, “Object Monitoring Lines” and then “Default Values Extrapolation” the function of same name can be opened.
This opens the extrapolation matrix. In the following picture, required buttons are framed, which will now be explained:
Navigation in the Time Periods of the Default Value Extrapolation Matrix
In the “Matrix Options” info tab, the „View by“ field can be used to set the time intervals at which the standard values of the extrapolation are to be displayed on the right below.
With the arrow keys above (see also "More options", then "Actions") the displayed periods can be changed, whereby the "Column” navigation navigates one column forward or backward and the "Set” navigation navigates 10 times forward or backward.
In the left area of the tab "Default Value Projection" all existing object monitoring lines of the monitoring type Counter Reading or Consumption are displayed without limitation to the selected object monitoring line of the technical object.
Default Value Extrapolation Filtering
To show filter options, it can be switched to the “Focus Mode” by clicking on the small icon on the far right of the "Default Value Projection" info tab.
By clicking on the now visible filter symbol top right, the filter options are displayed on the left side.
To reduce the number of object monitoring lines displayed, it can be filtered as follows:
- E.g. if the “Template Code” is “C4711” and
- the “Type” is “ Technical Component” and
- the “No.” (of the Technical Component) is „*01“
- and the “Line No.” is “5000”,
the filter result below is achieved:
Clicking again on the “Focus Mode” icon enables to navigate back to the matrix, but now in an appropriately filtered view.
Recording Default Values
The recording of Default Values is possible with 2 different procedures:
- Manual Entry: Values (Difference Values per time unit) can be entered directly in the matrix columns,
- Function “Set Values” enables a batch processing to be executed, i.e. an automatic entry over a period to be defined, whereby the single entry of the counter reading values must be related to weekdays.
Both Options are explained as follows.
Direct Entry in the Matrix Columns
The Entry is made directly in the matrix columns. The entry is saved when the field is left.
Batch Processing with „Set values“ Function
With click on „Planning” and “Set Values” in the “Default Value Projection” into tab, the following input page is opened.
By entering a Starting and Ending Date as well as the difference values of the Counter Reading related to the individual weekdays, information for batch processing can be stored, e.g. a 2-shift operation without weekends. Clicking on "Add Capacity" and confirming a query to change the values completes the entry.
MAIN-TOOL processes the entered data and stores the difference values in the Default Value Projection:
Changing Single Values at Default Value Projection
For example, according to the above example, it is to be stored, that no work will be done on 25.12.2026, i.e. the counter difference value for 25.12.2026 is „0“.
As explained before, by changing the “View by” field to “Day” and by navigating to 25.12.2026 via set and column navigation, the difference value of the date in question can be manually set to “zero”.
Note:
- It is recommended to create the projection before the first posting of performance characteristics, so that the projection is updated with each posting.
- The composition of the calculated values can be displayed in the matrix columns using the Assist button to the right of the value.
No Recording of Default Values (Extrapolation) for Threshold
No extrapolation can be stored for the object monitoring lines of the monitoring type Threshold / Range.
The Default Values Extrapolation functionality is only useful and intended for the monitoring types Counter Reading and Attrition/Consumption.
It is not possible to store forecasts for limit values.
