maintool Mobile App Installation & Initial Setup

  • Updated

This article describes how to install and configure the maintool Mobile App in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The setup includes the installation via AppSource, the initial configuration using the Anveo Setup Wizard, the import of the app configuration, and the activation of the required synchronization packages.

Installation via AppSource

To install the maintool Mobile App, navigate to Microsoft AppSource apps in BC and search for maintool Maintenance Management Mobile. Click on Install App to start the installation.

This automatically installs the required Anveo Mobile App.

Anveo Setup Wizard – Initial Setup

After installation, start the Anveo Setup Wizard via Anveo Mobile App Setup or by using the search in BC to perform the initial setup.

Enter a unique Instance name. The instance name should include the company name and be as short and concise as possible.

The Anveo instance is also used to assign Anveo licences. There is no need to store the Anveo licence manually – it is automatically activated via the Anveo instance.

In the next step, the Time Zone can be specified:

The use of the Anveo Mobile App requires acceptance of the EULA for both the Anveo Mobile App Extension and the Anveo Mobile App Cloud Service.

The Anveo Mobile App Cloud Service uses Microsoft's SOAP Web Service to communicate with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Online. The web service URL and the default client are determined and entered automatically. However, it is possible that the web service URL is incorrect – please check both entries.

To calculate delta data, it is recommended to create a job that automatically determines changes in the Dynamics data and sends them to the delta service on a regular basis. This job is automatically started each time the Anveo users are synchronized and minimizes synchronization time significantly, as the data is always pre-calculated rather than only at the time of synchronization.

Consent must be granted via the Microsoft Entra Application Card to allow Anveo access to the BC environment. This consent must be granted by an administrator.

Anveo Mobile App Setup

The latest maintool Mobile App configuration is provided as an XML file via the File Download Center and must be imported in the Anveo Mobile App Setup by clicking Import/Export > Import Anveo data....

Note:

When importing the maintool Mobile App, all existing functions, styles and configurations are overwritten.

If the maintool Mobile App has already been customized, a backup can be created with Export Anveo data.... It is recommended to deselect Anveo Setup and User Synch. Package Assignment from the available export options.

Synchronization Packages

To enable fast synchronization, only data changes – not all data – are transferred between Dynamics and the Anveo Mobile App. On the mobile device, only the data defined by the Anveo synchronization packages and the Delta Service Setup is available.

Data defined in synchronization packages must also be present in the Delta Service Setup, otherwise it will not be transferred to the device. Configuring data in only one place will result in it not being displayed in the Anveo Mobile App.

Search for Anveo Synchronization Packages to view and activate the synchronization packages that are automatically stored when the maintool Mobile App is imported. In addition to the packages marked with maintool, the package #ANVPKG#0001#ANVPKG# must be activated – synchronization between BC and the maintool Mobile App is not possible without active synchronization packages.

A company can be assigned to synchronization packages. If no assignment is made, the respective package applies to all companies.

Perform any pending updates and confirm the addition of tables for the Delta Service Setup. After activating the synchronization packages, all required tables should be active in the Anveo Delta Service Setup.

In the Anveo Mobile App Setup, the License tab displays all parameters of the installed version and the licence information.

Automatic locking and unlocking of Anveo Pages can be configured on the Configuration tab. This is useful when more than one person is responsible for setting up Anveo Pages. Enabling Auto Lock Anveo Page on unpublish automatically locks the Anveo Page for the current user when it is not published. Enabling Auto Unlock Anveo Page on publish automatically unlocks the Anveo Page when it is published.
