Work Order Request – Creating a work Order
The work order is the central component of MAIN-TOOL Work Order Management. Each order is created manually, either by entering the relevant fields individually or by using functions in MAIN-TOOL. This manual describes the possibility to create a work order based on a registered work order request.
A Malfunction or Defect Notice, a request from a different department or an informative entry about a special event can be documented in MAIN-TOOL in a Work Order Request. After the entries have been completed, the work order request is registered and automatically appears in the Workplanner Role Center as “New Work Order Request”. The process to create a work order request is described here.
In the Workplanner Role Center “Overdue” and “Current Work Order Requests” are displayed (see “Homepage”). Further a list view for work order requests exists, where in opposite to the role center view also not registered work order requests are displayed (Navigation from “Homepage” to “Work Order Requests”).
Following procedure is recommended to create a work order from a work order request:
After marking the relevant work order request and clicking on the button with the 3 vertical dots and then on “Edit”, this can now be viewed in read mode (grayed out input fields).
There are 2 following Options to evaluate the need for action:
- Post
- Here, the Work Order Request is added to the „Posted Work Order Requests“, which is synonymous to saving for documentation purposes or adding to the “Technical Component Curriculum Vitae”, see following note.
- Post and Create Work Order
- Here, in addition to the previously described posting process, a work order is also created, in which all entries from the Work order request are taken over and preset (except for „Person in Charge No.”)
Only after clicking on “Post” in the card view of the work order request, the above-mentioned selection options are requested, as shown below.
By clicking on „Post and create Work Order“, the Number Series of the Work Orders is queried next. As a rule, only one number series is assigned for this purpose, which is why the query can simply be answered with „OK“.
Then a new Work Order is created and displayed at the role center at “Current Work Order Planning”:
This is equivalent to the list view “Current Work Orders” that is displayed by clicking on “Work Orders”:
Filter options of the List View „Work Orders“:
Note:
- The new work order is not opened automatically, but must now actively “edited” or opened.
- The guiding principle for the work process of the work planner in the role center is to first view and individually evaluate all work order requests. Then, when the daily worklist is known, prioritization, planning and scheduling of the new work orders should/can be started.
- Comments in the work order request are transferred to the work order.
- „Register“ after recording a work order request is ofter forgotten or confused with „OK“. It is therefore recommended, to regularly view the unregistered work order requests.
