Home Page

To use the „Maintenance - Mobile Requests Capture“ role center in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, it must first be assigned to the user in “My Settings.” The corresponding home page becomes available only after this role center has been selected.

The „Maintenance - Mobile Requests Capture“ role center then provides a specially customized interface optimized for entering and editing work order requests. The view in Business Central typically looks like this:

Create Work Order Request

The “Create Order Request” action, which is directly visible in the desktop view, can also be performed in the mobile view. To do this, open the menu using the three dots (⋯) and select the corresponding command.

The Role Center also features two tiles, whose positions vary slightly depending on the device:

  • (Mobile) bottom tile / (Desktop) right tile:
This tile displays the total number of existing work order requests.
Tapping or clicking on it opens the mobile list view of the work order requests.
  • (Mobile) top tile / (Desktop) left tile:
This tile allows you to execute the “Create Work Order Request” action directly.
This immediately opens the mobile work request card, where a new work order request can be entered.

Work Order Requests

Tapping the work order request tile opens the work order request list, which displays all work order requests.

Mobile Work Order Request List

Tapping the work order request tile automatically opens the work order request list. This list clearly displays all existing work order requests.

The mobile work order request card looks like this:

The mobile work order request works essentially the same way as the work order request in the maintool standard. The main differences lie primarily in:

  • the reduced number of data fields, which are optimized for mobile use,
  • the mobile interface, which offers additional features such as scanning or simplified selection mechanisms.

“Detail No.” field with two icons

In the screenshot of the mobile app, two icons can be seen next to the “Detail No.” field:

Icon with three dots (⋯)

This button opens a lookup.
The lookup allows you to select reference objects that match the previously selected object:

  • Component Address
  • Mounting Position
  • Technical Component
  • Vehicle

The user receives a list of matching “technical objects” and can select the desired object directly.

Scan icon

After selecting this icon, you can scan:

  • Barcode
    or
  • QR code

When a code is scanned, the “technical object” associated with that code is automatically selected. This prevents data entry errors and significantly speeds up mobile data capture.

Taking a photo directly in the mobile request

In the mobile request, an image can be attached directly to the request.

Desktop / Tablet:

  1. Click on Functions.
  2. Select Open Camera.
  3. The camera opens immediately and a photo can be taken.
