After the Object Monitoring Template has been set up, the technical object (Component Address, Technical Component or vehicle) must be connected to the template before Performance Characteristics can be recorded.
Typical examples:
- A Technical Component has an operating hours counter.
- A vehicle has a mileage indicator.
- A Component Address has a switching cycle counter.
- A condition is to be monitored for a Technical Component ("0" = "Not in operation", "1" = "In operation").
Creating an Object Monitoring Line
In the following example, the Object Monitoring Template "Z4711" is connected to the Technical Component "Pump 4711". First, open the card view of the Technical Component. Click Monitoring to open the list view of the Object Monitoring Lines.
Object Monitoring Lines – list view:
Click New to insert a new line. Enter the code of the desired Object Monitoring Template in the Template Code field. After confirming with Enter or Tab, the fields Line No., Monitoring Type and Description are filled in automatically.
Click Card to open the card view of Object Monitoring Line 10000 of the Technical Object "Pump 4711".

| The additional fields and tabs are used to configure condition-based scheduling (e.g. maintenance after 3,000 operating hours) and to configure the inheritance of counter readings to subordinate Technical Components. |
Inheriting Counter Readings
Counter readings can be inherited from a parent technical object to a subordinate one, provided both are connected to the same Object Monitoring Template. The configuration is done in the Counter tab of the Object Monitoring Line:
| Field Name | Description / Information |
| Inherits Actual Value from Type | Select the type of the parent object:
|
| Inherits Actual Value from No. | Select the technical object from which the current value is to be inherited. Navigate to the Object Monitoring Template card view via More Options > Related > Card to identify the correct object. |
| Inherits Actual Value from Line No. | Select the line of the Object Monitoring Template of the parent object. |
